Why no ultra-processed foods?

Ultra-processed foods (UPF) can be found everywhere, and we're not just talking about items like hot dogs, frozen pizzas, and packaged crisps and cookies. Even foods that may appear healthy to many people, such as yogurts, soft drinks, cereals, and sugar-free products, can be ultra-processed and loaded with unnecessary additives.

Fueling Instead of Filling

Why do we not like UPF? In addition to the impact of ultra-processed foods on climate change, we believe that food should provide nourishment rather than simply filling you up. Natural foods contain essential nutrients that your body needs, but the process of ultra-processing removes the beneficial components and adds undesirable ones. Furthermore, UPF have been linked to addictive behaviors, leading to overconsumption.

It's no surprise to us that UPF have been associated with various diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, several types of cancer, and even dementia. Reason enough to pay a bit of attention to what you eat.

Not All Processed Food is Bad

While striving to eat as naturally as possible is commendable, we also recognize that it's not always practical to prepare everything from scratch. Processed foods are ok, and we particularly appreciate products with a genuine focus on better health. What we dislike are ultra-processed products that claim to be healthy but have lengthy ingredient lists filled with additives. Did you know that not all organic foods are healthy, that many products marketed as healthy are, in fact, UPF, that there are more than 50 names for sugar, and that not all E-numbers are harmful? For the average consumer, it's nearly impossible to understand what's genuinely healthy. That's why our app filters out all the bad stuff.

What you will find are numerous healthy, nourishing products, recipe inspiration, and explanations of what your body needs. Additionally, you can customize your filters, such as for allergies, so you only see the products that are relevant to you.
